Pathi Adinarayaniah and Pathi Bhaskariah set out with a dream from a small town named Munganapalli, located in Kolar district, in the year 1902, to set up an industry to pamper the dreams of women. Their dream turned into reality when from jewellery, their focus turned to the most desired and loved fabric of women – Silk.
The Company, Pathi Silk Kendra, was thus established in the year 1973 and then was born the Girija saree named after the consort of Lord Shiva, their family deity. Soon after, the Girija saree captured the public imagination with its high quality and novel designs. Since then the pioneering spirit of the Pathi’s with their 70 years of history has run through every Girija saree. Maintaining the tradition of SIlk industry which rolled over last 5000 years, today Girija Sarees, is known for its innovative designs & styles proving to become a name to reckon with.
Art Of The Saree – By Girija
At the House of Girija, change has always been evolutionary rather than revolutionary. New forms in designs, weaving, dyeing or printing have always complemented the fabric rather than stifle it. Combining the best raw silk, original jari and imported design studio, every Girija saree is individual in design, colour and styling.
These evolutionary changes have created a number of milestones in the intricate area of producing a Girija Saree.

Pearl Dyeing, a process of controlled bleaching and de-gumming ensures minimal de-gradation of the fabric. The results? Obvious. The Pearly luster of the Girija saree, its fabric full of life, colours glowing with a radiant vibrance and the jari glittering for years and years.
